PoW Martin Corey refused compassionate leave on the death of his brother

Republican Martin Corey was today refused compassionate leave on the death of his brother Peter.

Martin Corey, a former Republican POW, is held as a political hostage by the British Government. He was interned at the behest of the British Secretary of State and has now been held without charge for over 2 year.

Mr Corey was taken from his home in April 2010 and interned in Maghaberry Prison.

Martin has said he is still waiting for an acceptable reason for the revocation of his licence.

The only information  that has been released to Mr Corey was that he is ‘a security risk’ and cites unspecified allegations relating him ‘being a Republican’

In a statement from the Release Martin Corey campaign they said.

‘We now witnessing what we have see for years, the British state just pointing a finger and an innocent Irishman spends years in a jail indefinitely.  Martin has just lost his brother Peter, and the state heartlessly refuses compassionate leave for Martin to mourn his loss.

We wish to express our deepest sympathies to both Martin and the whole Corey family’.

“In a civilised society locking up citizens without charge or trial must be challenged.

“The Release Martin Corey Campaign demands that the British Government release Martin Corey immediately. We call on every person concerned with human rights abuses and civil liberties to call for Martin’s immediate release and not allow this internment to go on any longer’.

I would also like to express my condolences firstly to Máirtín and also to the Corey family my thoughts & prayers are with you all. In retrospect to them refusing him compassionate parole it’s a (absolute) disgrace their nothing but scum, lowlife bastards and i hope they rot in hell. éirí amach, Ní síothcháin go saoirse !
